ABOUT THE SERIES

The National Hare & Hound Series is comprised of 8 rounds, taking place in the far West. Races are held in Utah, Nevada, and California. In the past, Hare & Hounds have also been hosted in Oregon and even Colorado. Hare & Hound races consist of at least 2 different loops. Each loop is generally 40-45 miles in length.

Be sure and check out the AMA supplemental rules that govern the Hare & Hound Series. And for race info, check out the Schedule page.

OUT OF STATE RACE INFORMATION

If you already have an AMA membership, there are no other special requirements for you to race a National Hare & Hound. The hosting club will assign you a generic Pie Plate # when you sign up and you do not need to get a District membership for the National events.

If your bike is registered in your own state, you do not need to get an additional permit. The California permit is only for people coming in from states that don't require OHV registration or if their bike just isn't registered. It is the same if you have a California Green Sticker, then you are allowed to ride in Arizona, etc.

CALIFORNIA PERMIT

All vehicles operated off-highway on public lands in California are required to be (1) street-licensed or (2) registered as an off-highway vehicle (OHV). If you are visiting California from another state and your vehicle does not have a current registration from your home state, you must purchase a California Nonresident OHV Use Permit before you recreate on public lands. The 2011 Nonresident OHV Use Permits are now available for purchase. The permit fee is $30. To locate a vendor, please consult this vendor list.
